Kolkata, Jan 07 (ANI): Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley while addressing 'Bengal Global Business Summit, 2015' in Kolkata on Wednesday said that the Central government will stand by West Bengal government as far as its industrial climate is concerned. Jaitley said that Bengal has several strengths like its strategic positions, its intellectual capital and rich mineral resources, but unfortunately many big industries have shifted out from the state. So, the biggest challenge is to establish them once again. TMC says Abhishek Banerjee slapped by 'an outsider', political parties allege 'act by an insider'

New Delhi/ Kolkata, Jan 04 (ANI): After West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's nephew Abhishek Banerjee was slapped by an unidentified youth at a public rally, TMC leader Derek O' Brien alleged that it was done by and outsider who apparently wanted to click a photograph along with Banerjee. Meanwhile, BJP leader Siddharth Nath Singh said that the act is unfortunate and is definitely done by a party insider. Congress leader Rashid Alvi also condemned the act and said that the same was unlawful and this was not a correct way to protest. Airport in Kolkata on alert following threat to Air India flight

Kolkata/ Jaipur, Jan 04 (ANI): Security has been beefed up at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata city of West Bengal following a threat to an Air India flight. The booking office of Air India, in Kolkata, received an anonymous threat call on Saturday that an Air India flight will be hijacked. However, the exact details of the flight which is likely to be targeted are not known. It has also not been ascertained yet whether or not the call was a hoax. Reacting to the hijack threat, Aviation Expert Harshvardhan asserted on the need to take even the smallest threat very seriously. A passenger Manju Jaana said that she arrived early at the airport in view of the increased security at the airport and was ready to cooperate with the officials. Muslims took out processions to mark the occasion, celebrated as the day of the birth of Muhammad, Islam's Prophet. Homes, mosques, shrines and seminaries are decked with flags, buntings and banners to welcome the day, considered to be among the most blessed in the Islamic calendar. In Lucknow city, residents thronged the streets to celebrate the festival. Tableaux and processions were the highlights of the occasion. New Delhi, Jan 04 (ANI): Reactions poured in on Sunday after the Air India office in Kolkata received hijack threat. BJP leader Sambit Patra said that Intelligence agencies and concerned agencies will see to it that no terror attack happens. BJP leader Subramanian Swamy also urged the government to increase safety measures on the airports.
