Bollywood welcomes Indian PM Modi's invite to shoot in Kashmir

New Delhi/Mumbai, Nov 28 (ANI): Known for his eloquence and presence, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi knows how to leave the nation on its edge. His promise to bring back "Bollywood to Kashmir" has only been welcomed by the country. Modi at a recent election rally in northern Jammu and Kashmir had evoked sentiments towards how the state had remained a hotspot for various film shootings. He had called on the film fraternity to return to the 'Paradise on Earth' so that the Himalayan state benefits economically. Bollywood had in the past seen various blockbusters shot in the mountainous region. Films like Kashmir Ki Kali, Yahaan and Mission Kashmir remain the best example of how it brought the province on the big screen. But years of militancy and infiltration from across the border saw filmmakers refraining from coming to the disputed state and rather turning to foreign locales. India's film industry lauded Modi's open invite and said the move will only see bigger productions in the future. India which has the biggest film industry in the world seldom shoots in domestic locations, given the amount of production cost and size of canvas involved.
