Bhopal, June 15 (ANI): Congress Party's Women Wing took to streets protesting against the spate of growing rape cases in Madhya Pradesh. The protesters of Congress Women's wing led by its chief Shobha Oza demanded the resignation of state Home Minister Babulal Gaur and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan over growing rape cases in the state. Oza said the state government of Madhya Pradesh had shown disrespect for women by manhandling them during a peaceful protest. Amid growing public resentment over the gang-rape and hanging of two teenage girls in Uttar Pradesh, Gaur had described rape as a social crime and said "sometimes it's right, sometimes it's wrong". Fathers of Badaun rape and murder victims hope to get justice after CBI starts investigation

Budaun, June 14 (ANI): Father of one of the hanged teenage girls in Badaun district of Uttar Pradesh said he is now hopeful of getting justice, after the CBI reached the northern state to investigate the case of the gang-rape and killings of two teenage girls. Two cousins aged 12 and 14, from a low-caste Dalit community, went missing from their village home in Budaun district when they went out to go to the toilet on the evening of May 27. The next morning, villagers found their bodies hanging from a mango tree. Kanpur, June 13 (ANI): Hindu devotees in Kanpur city of India's northern state of Uttar Pradesh on Sunday made an attempt to create a record by offering a 51,000 meter-long cloth to holy river Ganges to mark Hindu festival, 'Ganga Dussehra', which commemorates birth of the river on earth. The 51,000 meter-long cloth extends from Bramhavrat Ghat area at one end of Kanpur and touches Jajmau area at the city's other end and was organised by volunteers in collaboration with Kanpur's main shrine of Lord Shiv. Devout Hindus in Kanpur took a holy dip in the river Ganges, prayed for their ancestors and sought the blessings of the Hindu goddess Ganga to get rid of their sins. Priests performed traditional Hindu rituals and chanted hymns on the banks of the river. Women and girls offered prayers for the well being of their families. The first 10 days of the month of June are said to honour the presence of river Ganges in India. According to a myth, the Ganges was gifted to mankind in answer to the penance undertaken by King Bhagirath of the legendary Sagara dynasty. Bhagirath prayed for the Ganges to descend onto the earth to wash the ashes of his dead brothers to give them salvation. CBI takes charge of Badaun rape case, probe begins

New Delhi, June 12 (ANI): The CBI has filed an FIR and taken over the probe in Badaun rape case where two Dalit girls were found hanging from a tree in their village. CBI Director Ranjit Sinha said that Government of India has handed over the case to CBI and it will soon begin probe.
