Police seize heroin worth crores in Punjab

Amritsar, Feb 27 (ANI): Police in Punjab seized 50 kilograms of heroin worth 250 crore in international market and produced three accused in a court. Sleuths of counter intelligence wing of the police also seized 250 grams opium, a pistol and two motorcycles. The accused have been identified as Angrez Singh, Raja Singh and Joginder Singh, who are farmers. He added that the drugs were smuggled from Pakistan. Jorabat, Feb 26 (ANI): Assam Police arrested two suspected Maoists and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunitions from Jorabat area of Guwahati. According to reports, the police had launched an operation in the area based on intelligence inputs. The arrested, meanwhile, have been identified as Biswajit Sangma and Runa Sangma who were allegedly involved in an illegal arms consignment. Army assists disabled people by distributing wheelchairs and artificial limbs in JandK

Poonch, Feb 25 (ANI): Indian army assisted disabled people by distributing wheelchairs and artificial limbs in Jammu and Kashmir. The task was carried out by the Romeo Force Regiment 39 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and charitable organisation, Pritam Spiritual Foundation Trust, to help disabled people in the border belt of Poonch district. In November last year, the army had provided artificial legs to 20 people in a distribution camp at its battalion base. Two militants killed in Kashmir encounter

Shopian, Feb 25 (ANI): Two unidentified militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in south Kashmir's Shopian district on Wednesday. The gun battle is still on between the security forces and militants in Shopian district. The security forces are in search of a third militant. The encounter began on Tuesday when security forces received specific intelligence input about the presence of militants in Hef Shermal area of Shopian, 52 kms from Srinagar. Acting on a tip-off about the presence of militants, a joint team of army and police began a search operation in the area.
