Reactions come in over India's nuclear deal with Sri Lanka

New Delhi/ Chennai, Feb 17 (ANI): Congress party took a dig at the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party after the Narendra Modi-led government signed a nuclear energy agreement with Sri Lanka. This deal is India's first breakthrough with the new government of the tiny Indian Ocean island where China has been building ports and highways in a diplomatic push in recent years. Under the deal, India will help Sri Lanka build its nuclear energy infrastructure, including training of personnel, the Indian foreign ministry said. Later, India could also sell light small-scale nuclear reactors to Sri Lanka which wants to establish 600 MW of nuclear capacity by 2030, a Sri Lankan official and an Indian analyst said earlier. President Mukherjee hosts banquet for his Sri Lankan counterpart

New Delhi, Feb 17 (ANI): President Pranab Mukherjee hosted a banquet for his Sri Lankan counterpart, Maithripala Sirisena in New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, his predecessor Manmohan Singh and other senior leaders attended the event in the presidential palace, Rashtrapati Bhawan. The two neighbours had signed a nuclear energy agreement earlier. UN special envoy Michael Bloomberg meets Finance Minister Arun Jaitley

New Delhi, Feb 16 (ANI): UN Special Envoy for Cities and Climate Change, Michael Bloomberg, on Monday (February 16) met India's Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu in New Delhi with bids to help India develop smart cities and move closer to cleaner energy. Bloomberg, the founder of financial software, data and media company Bloomberg L.P., is also slated to meet Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, later in the day. As per reports, Bloomberg's charitable foundation, Bloomberg Philanthropies will assist India's Urban Development Ministry to handpick cities for the smart-city project on the basis of urban reforms like sanitation and ease of doing business, to be implemented in a 10-year period. Fourteen-year old teenager makes wind energy-based unique cooler

Jamshedpur, Feb 15 (ANI): A 14-year-old girl, Nishu, from Jharkhand built a unique wind-energy based local cooler. A student of Class X, Nishu has won several district and state level awards for her unique model. She said that the cooler is affordable at rupees 2500 and can be easily availed by poor, especially children, who have to bear the brunt of power outages.
