Tamil Nadu, Feb 20 (ANI): Students of an engineering college in Chennai city of Tamil Nadu made a solar-powered e-scooter, an eco-friendly step to save non-renewable sources of energy. The solar powered scooter runs on a primary and an auxiliary set of batteries and takes six to seven hours to charge fully. It can travel at a speed of 50 to 55 kilometres per hour and gives a mileage of 45 to 55 kilometres, once charged. The students said the team created this scooter as solar power was the future. Petroleum ministry document leak: Dharmendra Pradhan says everything would be clear once independent

New Delhi, Feb 20 (ANI): A day after five people, two of them officials of the Petroleum Ministry, were arrested for allegedly leaking confidential government documents to energy consultants and corporates, Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that independent enquiry is going on and things would become clear once it ends. At least 25 people have been detained for questioning, the Delhi police said. New Delhi, Feb 18 (ANI): Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley has said that India has enough raw material to provide clean power to the entire country. Jaitley made the statement at 'RE-Invest', first global renewable energy meet and expo, attended by over 200 investors, 350 exhibitors and 1,000 delegates among senior ministers of the government. The central theme of the conference is to attract large scale investments for renewable energy sector in India. India is seeking investments of $100 billion over seven years to boost the country's renewable energy capacity by 33 times to 100,000 megawatts. RE-Invest will be the first major platform for investment promotion which signals India's commitment to the development and scaling up of renewable energy to meet its energy requirement in a sustainable manner. Maithripala Sirisena visits Mahabodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya

Bodh Gaya, Feb 17 (ANI): Sri Lankan President, Maithripala Sirisena, on Tuesday (February 17) visited one of the holiest Buddhist sites in India, where Lord Buddha is believed to have attained enlightenment. He paid floral tributes to Lord Buddha statue in the Mahabodhi Temple. The Sri Lankan President also prayed under the Bodhi tree, a sacred fig near the Mahabodhi Temple which is said to be a descendent of the one Buddha sat under for three days and nights in the sixth century BC, before finding enlightenment. Sirisena, who is in India for a four-day visit, signed a nuclear energy agreement with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday.
