New Delhi, Aug 19 (ANI): The Indian auto industry has come a long way since its inception. It has emerged as a major contributor to India's gross domestic product (GDP), accounting around 7% and employing about 19 million people both directly and indirectly. In addition, with Government's backing and a rapid growth in demand of cars, multi-utility vehicles (MUVs), two and three wheelers and auto components, the sector is set to attract foreign investors. CBI raid OCA Secretary Ashirbad Behera's house in Odisha chit fund scam case

Bhubaneswar, Aug 17 (ANI): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Sunday raided Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) secretary Ashirbad Behera’s house in Bhubaneswar city in connection with the chit fund scam. The CBI investigated Behera, among others, for having links with Pradeep Sethy, the chairman-cum-managing director of a chit fund company, Artha Tatwa. The company, according to the CBI, is among the 44 firms in the state which are running fraudulent chit schemes and are tricking the investors. Sethy, reportedly, has been arrested, and the value of the seized properties of the AT Group is said to have been around rupees 400 crores. Aug 17, 2014

New Delhi, Aug 15 (ANI): Indian political leaders on Friday underlined misses in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's maiden Independence Day speech, while also appreciating his effort to touch upon basic issues the country is facing. Modi, in his speech on the occasion of 68th Independence Day on Friday (August 15), highlighted various topics from digitalization of India to poverty. He urged global investors to make India a manufacturing hub, and pitched for manufacturing in the electronic sector, also calling for foreign investment in manufacturing chemicals, automobiles, agro-business and others. However, Politicos felt he did not mention the core struggles of India, such as inflation and corruption. PM Narendra Modi announces scrapping of Planning Commission

New Delhi, Aug 15 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that a new institution would be formed in place of the planning commission. The Planning Commission is an institution in the Government of India, which formulates the country's Five-Year Plans, among other functions. Modi also reached out to global investors on Friday, asking them to come and manufacture goods in India. He laid emphasis on IT and related industry, and said the country must come to be regarded as "Digital India" and benefit from the manufacture of electronics instead of imports. Earlier today, the Prime Minister unfurled the flag in the central court of Red Fort, after inspecting the guard of honour.
