India and US should implement work plan to broaden bilateral ties: US envoy

Chennai, Oct 20 (ANI): Head of United States embassy, Charge d' Affairs, Kathleen Stephens, said that the governments of India and US should implement a work plan to broaden ties between the two nations and to take steps help encourage investment of foreign firms. Stephens while addressing delegates at the Indo-American Chambers of Commerce (IACC) in Chennai said that the meet between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Barack Obama was a positive gesture in order to strengthen bilateral relations. Mukherjee said that the aim of his visit to Finland and Norway was to seek expansion in education, research, innovation, investment and trade with India. He said that while on his visit to Finland, he expressed the need to cooperate against terrorism as terrorism knows no boundary and also urged the government to look at India as an investment destination and talked about the maiden 'Make in India' project. President Mukherjee also expressed gratitude on being awarded with the Helsinki Medal of Honour, a gesture which he said was 'honouring the people of India'. France keen to invest in India's smart cities project
