Kolkata, Sep 11 (ANI): BJP leader Siddharth Nath Singh on Thursday questioned West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over her alleged relationship with Bangladesh's fundamentalist group Jamaat-e-Islami and Islamic fundamentalist Students' Islamic Movement of India (SIMI). Singh said that a newspaper in Bangladesh has said that the money extracted by the Saradha chit fund scam went to the Jamaat-e-Islami and that the organization helped back the TMC with the Lok Sabha polls. Singh said that if Banerjee was innocent, she should have opposed and filed a defamation case against the newspaper in question and Bangladesh government. Sep 11, 2014

Udhampur, Sep 10 (ANI): Three terrorists were killed in an encounter that broke out in Keran sector of Kupwara District on Wednesday morning. The encounter operation was launched by the army after they had specific information about their movement in the Keran sector. The identity of the terrorists is not yet known. PRO Defence, S D Goswami said that three militants have been killed in the Kishanganj range near Line of Control. Udhampur, Sep 07 (ANI): Floods, triggered by heavy downpour, in Jammu and Kashmir continued to wreak havoc on Sunday and lead to suspension of trains and blocking national highway due to mudslide. Pilgrims to sacred holy cave of Vaishno Devi were stranded as Katra region-bound Shri Shakti Express train was stuck for hours at Ramnagar railway station in Udhampur district. A passenger, Vinod Bansal said authorities were not providing any information on the movement of the train. Another passenger, Bagish Goyal said the authorities suddenly announced termination of the train without providing any alternative. Nearly 100 people have been killed due to floods in Kashmir as rivers in the region flowed above the danger mark due to incessant rains. Manipur, Sep 05 (ANI): Security has been stepped up as shutdown called by United Naga Council (UNC), in Manipur entered second day on Friday (September 05), to protest against recent killings of civilians by security forces. On August 30, two civilians were killed and 26 injured in violent police firing to control a rally protesting against the imposition of Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) 144 in Ukhrul district. The resolution to impose a ban in the state was passed on Monday (September 01) after UNC President, L Adani, convened a high level meeting with representatives of Naga Civil Organisations and chiefs of different Nagaland tribes.
