Real estate sector witnesses a growth in Assam

Guwahati, Dec 10 (ANI): Guwahati city in Assam is a growing hub for trade and commerce activity in the Northeast. And, this has opened up new vistas for the real estate industry. Shopping malls, showrooms, apartments and hotels - the changing face of the city has made it a favorite destination for investors. Real estate developers are venturing in to the city to tap the potential. In recent years, the city, like most of the other bigger cities in the country has witnessed a sharp rise in the demand for flats, both for residential and commercial purpose. A large number of real estate developers, including from abroad, are eying to develop housing and commercial infrastructure in Assam. They participated in a recently concluded four-day long Realty summit. Organized by the Assam Real Estate and Infrastructure Developers' Association (AREIDA), it invited experts from various infrastructure development related fields to discuss wide range of issues. The exhibition gave a chance to the public to know about the various housing projects and home development items besides a chance to avail loans from a number of banks. Dec 10, 2014

Sangai festival promotes Manipur as a tourist destination

Manipur, Dec 09 (ANI): Thousands of locals, domestic and foreign tourists flocked the Hapta Kangjeibung palace compound in Imphal to witness the annual Sangai festival organized by the Manipur Tourism Department. The 10-day long cultural extravaganza, known earlier as the Manipur Tourism Festival was renamed Manipur 'Sangai Festival' in 2010 to popularize "Sangai", a rare species of deer found in the state. Various ethnic tribes of the state showcased their indigenous handicraft and handloom items. Handmade traditional attires, jewelery, decorative items and household products were greatly appreciated by the visitors. Participants from neighbouring Thailand and Myanmar also set up their stalls and had a variety of products on display. A wide range of adventure activities were a major attraction for the children and adults alike. The visitors also got a chance to savor a variety of indigenous food. In the evening, the Bheigyachandra Open Air Theatre was jam-packed as visitors thronged to witness a variety of cultural performances. Dec 9, 2014

Marilyn Monroe's love letter from ex-hubby fetches $78K at auction

New Delhi, Dec 8 (ANI): Joe DiMaggio's love letter to Marilyn Monroe has been sold for 78,000 dollars at a recent auction, it has been revealed. Julien's Auctions announced that one letter from her ex-husband DiMaggio, the Yankee great, sold for more than 78,000 dollars, a leading daily reported. Another letter from other husband Arthur Miller fetched nearly 44,000 dollars at the same auction that was held as a part of its Icons and Idols series. Other items also included black velvet opera coat that was sold for 93,760 dollars, and one of her pendant necklaces drew that fetched 34,375 dollars. Monroe's silk coat sold for 1750,000, dollars. The Beverly Hills auction house offered up about 200 items that belonged to the actress including the letters, accessories and clothing. Dec 8, 2014

Northeastern states promote tourism and crafts at IITF-2014 in New Delhi

New Delhi, Dec 07 (ANI): Tourism and industrial promotion was the focus of Assam pavilion at the 34th India International Trade Fair at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. In tandem with the theme – 'Women Entrepreneurship', the Assam Pavilion showcased various entrepreneurial activities of the women of Assam and highlighted the contributions of those who have made a special mark in their respective fields. The various products put up on display at the Fair were Assam Tea, handloom products, Assamese jewellery, bamboo and cane products and ethnic foot items, most of which are led by women entrepreneurs. A large number of crafts persons and entrepreneurs from other northeastern states like Nagaland, Tripura, Manipur and Meghalaya also participated in the fair. Around 20 exhibitors from Nagaland showcased a variety of products like handloom, traditional jewellery, artificial flowers, cultural artifact and decorative items. Dec 7, 2014
