UP govt admits death of 34 children in Muzaffarnagar relief camps, draws protest

Lucknow/ Muzaffarnagar/ Varanasi, Dec 27 (ANI): Amid a raging controversy over numbar of deaths in Muzaffarnagar relief camps, Uttar Pradesh government has admitted that 34 children below the age of 15 died in the camps for the riot-hit victims. Forty-five people have died in the prosperous sugarcane district of Muzaffarnagar and surrounding areas since clashes erupted between Muslims and majority Hindu Jats. This was concluded in a report by a fact-finding committee of the state government. Earlier, Samajwadi Party Chief Mulayam Singh Yadav had made a remark where he stated that those living in the relief camps are not riot victims, but conspirators and political activists planted by Congress party and the BJP.
