No need to panic about swine flu, says JP Nadda

Lucknow, Feb 20 (ANI): Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda said on Friday that there is no need to panic about swine flu and that there is an adequate stock of medicines to deal with the pandemic. He added swine flu medicines were being sold by registered stores only but that did not mean there was a scarcity of the cure. Nadda also stressed on the need for personal hygiene and building up immunity to tackle the disease which spreads more in winters. Government says no need to panic even as swine flu toll hits 700 mark

New Delhi, Feb 20 (ANI): Even as India witnessed a steep rise in the number of swine flu cases in recent days, Cabinet Secretary Ajit Seth said that there was no need to panic, adding that the government was taking measures to ensure proper treatment to patients. The H1N1 virus has claimed nearly 700 lives in the country and the number of people affected by it has crossed 10,000 mark, say reports. Seth said that delay in treatment was amounting to rising casualties. Seth said that he was in touch with officials to ensure consistent supply of medicines and other medical equipments to government hospitals. He has also directed drug controllers of various states to ensure availability of necessary vaccines, along with guidelines for usage and treatment protocol. Meanwhile, 40 new medical stores have been given license to sell swine flu drugs. Besides, two new labs have been set up to the existing three, to deal with the rush. Feb 20, 2015
