Patna, March 02 (ANI): Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has called for statewide bandh on Sunday demanding special status for the state on the lines of one given to Seemandhra. He has slammed the Centre for granting special status to Seemandhra while ignoring Bihar. He set out on a 'pad yatra' from his residence to head to the historic Gandhi Maidan of Patna. The CM will be holding a day-long dharna demanding special status to the state. TRS Chief meets Rahul Gandhi, fuels speculation about possible alliance

New Delhi, Feb 24 (ANI): Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Chief Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao, who spearheaded the Telangana movement, met Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi on Monday amidst speculations of a merger or alliance between the TRS and Congress ahead of general elections. Meanwhile, Congress leaders from the region also met Sonia Gandhi at her residence putting forth their demands. Congress leader Ganga Bhavani said she was satisfied with the meeting as the Congress chief gave a patient hearing to all her problems and promised concrete action. Mulayam aborts AMU trip, politicos react

Lucknow/ New Delhi, Feb 24 (ANI): Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav has cancelled his visit to Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) after protests against the UP government's handling of the Muzaffarnagar riots. Yadav was to address a seminar on the campus on Monday. There were protests on the campus by a section of teachers after Yadav was invited to the seminar organised by Sir Syed Movement.The reason for the cancellation was said to be the model code of conduct. Meanwhile, the BJP and Congress supported the protests against Mulayam's visit and said that this was expected as Muslim community was deeply hurt by the way the Samajwadi party handled the Muzaffarnagar riots.
