Kejriwal gets late due to roadshow, not to file nomination papers today

New Delhi, Jan 20 (ANI): AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal who was about to file his nomination papers from New Delhi constituency today could not do so as he got late in reaching the office. Kejriwal, who offered prayers at the Valmiki Temple earlier today, held a road show from the temple to the Jantar Mantar after which he was to file his nomination papers. The former Delhi chief minister led a big show of strength today in the city, asking people to join him on his journey towards filing the papers. He also sought blessings from his mother at home before beginning the 4 km long road show. Kejriwal is expected to campaign in BJP chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi's constituency Krishna Nagar later in the day. The elections for the 70-member Delhi Assembly will be held in a single phase on February 7, with the counting of votes set to take place on February 10. Jan 20, 2015

BJP announces Kiran Bedi's name as chief ministerial candidate for Delhi polls

New Delhi, Jan 20 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced former IPS Officer and anti-graft activist Kiran Bedi as its chief ministerial candidate for Delhi assembly polls. The announcement was made by BJP Chief Amit Shah at party's headquarters. She will contest from the Krishna Nagar seat. The BJP also released the names of 61 other candidates who will contest the elections. Former student leader Nupur Sharma will contest against AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal from the New Delhi seat. Senior leader Jagdish Mukhi will contest from the Janakpuri seat, while former Delhi BJP Chief Vijendra Gupta will contest from Rohini. Praising BJP's 'discipline', Krishna Tirath formally switches parties

New Delhi, Jan 19 (ANI): Praising the Bharatiya Janata Party's 'discipline', former union minister and Congress leader Krishna Tirath on Monday formally joined the BJP, vowing to continue her work towards the upliftment of the oppressed. Tirath had earlier in the day fuelled rumours of switching allegiances after meeting party chief Amit Shah in the national capital. According to media reports, a disgruntled Tirath had earlier sought a Congress Party ticket for one of her children to contest in the Delhi state assembly elections, but the central leadership of the party rejected the request. Till now, she was representing the North West Delhi constituency of Delhi as a member of the Indian National Congress (INC). She began her political career as a M.L.A in Delhi and was a member of the Delhi Legislative Assembly from 1984-2004. New Delhi, Jan 19 (ANI): Former UPA minister Krishna Tirath on Monday met BJP President Amit Shah and joined the party. Tirath said that she was impressed by the ideology of the party and added that she would be working towards the welfare of people. Tirath also said that her responsibilities shall be decided by the BJP's central leadership but her focus will mainly be at development.
