Panel Report suggests bare minimum standard of living: C Rangarajan

Chennai, July 07 (ANI): Talking about the panel report on poverty which raised the daily per capita expenditure to Rs 32 for the rural poor and to Rs 47 for the urban poor, PM Economic Advisory Council Chairman C Rangarajan said that it suggests bare minimum standard of living. He also said that this is 19% higher than poverty line fixed by Tendulkar report for rural areas, 40% for urban areas. The report also said that every three people out of 10 are poor in India. DU Academic Council passes resolution to implement three-year undergraduate programme

New Delhi, June 28 (ANI): The Delhi University Academic Council on Saturday held a meeting to discuss the further course of action, a day after the DU VC announced scrapping of the controversial FYUP programme. The Academic Council of the varsity today passed a resolution to implement the three-year undergraduate programme. Eight of the 90 members opposed the resolution tabled by the Council, saying the Delhi University 'didn't hold discussions'. The resolution will now be tabled in the meeting of the Executive Council. Delhi University yesterday decided to scrap the four-year under graduate programme (FYUP) after UGC mounted pressure to roll it back. The standoff between the UGC and DU had resulted in an inordinate delay in the admission procedure. Jun 28, 2014
