India to send its first satellite to mars

Bangalore, Sept 12 (ANI): India's space agency unveiled details about the country's first satellite to Mars that would seek to find out the presence of methane gas, a precursor for life, on the red planet. Space Research Organisation (ISRO) had worked upon the country's upcoming, Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) and is set to launch it between September 21 to 27. On the sidelines of news conference at Bangalore, the Project Director of the mission, Arunan, said that it was a perfect combination of science and technology. Programme Director of the mission, M. Anna Durai, said that satellite would be carrying scientific instruments, including a methane sensor, with itself. Sep 12, 2013
