Railway budget 2014-15: Highlights Part - 4

New Delhi, July 08 (ANI): Railway Minister Sadanand Gowda on Tuesday presented the Railway Budget for fiscal 2014-15 in the Lok Sabha. Gowda said that the government is targeting to become the largest freight carrier in the world. He said that Indian Railways is starved of funds despite 100 percent advance payment by customers. Now it___s time to take corrective actions, fare revision was one such step. He added that there is need to FDI except Railway operations, need to have Private Public Partnership to improve Railways. There is also need to explore new opportunities and to involve private funding in infrastructure development. He proposed WiFi systems on all A1 category stations, retiring rooms on all stations, bullet trains for which Mumbai-Ahmedabad sector has been identified. Three- day painting exhibition brings cheer to specially-abled in Siliguri

Siliguri, July 05 (ANI): Anubhab, a voluntary organisation in Siliguri organised a three- day painting- cum- sale exhibition from July 04 to bring cheer to the specially- abled. The organizers will be showcasing more than 30 paintings by an eminent painter, Binit Sinha, from Kolkata who told the reporter that it is the duty of society to look after the specially- abled people. The Secretary of Anubhab, Pradip Nag, said the raised funds would be used to help the children. It is expected that the specially- abled inmates of the centre will get a unique opportunity to express their aims, desires and fancies through this event and give them a chance to interact with people and help society understand them better.
