Islamic State releases video showing beheading of British hostage

New Delhi, Sep 14 (ANI): Islamic State militants fighting in Iraq and Syria released video purportedly showing the beheading of British aid worker David Haines. The images are consistent with that of the filmed executions of two American journalists, James Foley and Steven Sotloff. British Prime Minister David Cameron said the murder was an act of pure evil and vowed to bring his killers to justice however long it takes. Haines, a 44-year-old from Perth in Scotland, was kidnapped last year while working for a French AID agency. Sep 14, 2014

SC allows Italian marines to go home on health grounds for 4 months

New Delhi /Kochi, Sept 13 (ANI): SC lawyer KTS Tulsi said Italian marine, Massimiliano Latorre, facing murder charges for killing Indian fishermen, was allowed to go home as he was ill and there was no progress in the case. The Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice RM Lodha said the order would be effective only after the Italian marine has filed an "unequivocal and unambigous undertaking" on his return to India upon the completion of four months. The marines, Latorre and Salvatore Girone, part of a military security team protecting a tanker from piracy are accused of shooting two Indian fishermen off the coast of Kerala in February 2012. The two men deny killing anyone or aiming directly at the fishing boat. They are on bail but cannot leave India. Oscar Pistorius found guilty of culpable homicide in girlfriend's murder

South Africa, Sept 12 (ANI): Paralympic runner Oscar Pistorius has been found guilty of culpable homicide, after being cleared of murdering Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine's Day last year. Reading from her written judgment, the judge told the court that there was not enough evidence to prove beyond reasonable doubt that the athlete was guilty of premeditated murder or murder. He was also found guilty on one firearms charge, but acquitted on two others. Pistorius could face up to 15 years in jail on the culpable homicide charge. Sep 12, 2014

Nithari Case: SC stays Surinder Koli's execution till October 29

New Delhi, Sep 12 (ANI): In a breakthrough in the Nithari murder case, the Supreme Court has stayed the execution of main accused Surinder Koli on Friday. The lawyer said that the Court has given the next date of hearing as October 28 and execution has been stayed till October 29 on grounds of unavailability of documents. Koli was convicted of cannibalism and unnatural sex with children in the henious Nithari murder case. He had confessed of having sex with his dead victims and also eating some of their body parts.
