Kathua, July 06 (ANI): Keen volunteers set up community kitchens providing free food, temporary shelter and medical care in a bid to help devotees undertaking the annual Hindu pilgrimage, Amarnath Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir. President of a religious organisation, Baba Barfani Sewa Mandal, Chander Sheikher Sood, said on Sunday that various kitchens enroute to Amarnath are being run by his volunteers and arrangements for nearly 5,000 pilgrims have been made. Pilgrims said they were happy with the arrangements made for them and their journey was made easier through the efforts of the volunteers. The holy Amarnath cave containing the holy Shiva shrine is located at a snow-capped mountainous peak of the Himalayas. Jul 6, 2014

Rayagada, July 06 (ANI): For the past nine months, thirty low caste tribal families of the remote Paikapada village in Odisha face the humiliation of social boycott by villagers belonging to a higher caste. These thirty families who belong to Sano-adivasi (lower class) group are boycotted by the group Bodo-adivasi (upper class) which consists of 80 families. The Additional District Magistrate from Rayagada, Laxmikanth Behara, said that he has been informed about the incident. Udhampur, July 04 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi flags off the first train to Katra, which is the base camp of Hindu pilgrimage of Vaishno Devi, from Udhampur district in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday. Security has been tightened, with 2300 officials having been deployed along the Srinagar-Uri route in order to avoid any untoward incidents. Authorities have also imposed curfew in old Srinagar city to avert protests or rallies by the separatists.
