Karzai was received by MoS for Home Affairs, RPN Singh, and other protocol officials at the airport. Afghanistan is pressing India to supply military helicopters, tanks and artillery as it tries to shore up security through regional alliances before the withdrawal of most NATO-led foreign troops by the end of 2014. New Delhi, Dec 12 (ANI): Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi had a narrow escape at Indira Gandhi International airport while returning from Rae Bareli in his private jet. Another aircraft was still on the runway on which his private business jet was to land. However, luckily just when Rahul's Cessna Citation was about to land, the airport traffic control alerted Rahul's pilot to abort the landing. Imphal, Dec 06 (ANI): On Nov. 21, the first international flight from Myanmar landed at Tulihal International Airport in Imphal. The Golden Myanmar Airlines aircraft arrived with over 100 passengers to take part in the annual Sangai Festival. The delegation, including the Chief Minister of Mandalay region, U Ye Mint, the Chief Minister of Sagaing Region, U Thar Aye, several Meitei Diaspora and media persons were warmly received by Manipur Chief Minister O.Ibobi Singh. Manipur is hopeful of turning a significant regional hub for international flights to Southeast Asian countries, thereby promoting trade, tourism, business and investment. A business conclave was also organised to explore trade and investment opportunities between Manipur and Myanmar. The Myanmar delegation interacted with Manipuri traders and discussed the issues concerning border trade. Kolkata, Dec 06 (ANI): Custom officials arrested 11 Chinese nationals after they were caught with huge amounts of sandalwood at an airport in West Bengal. Assistant Commissioner of Customs at Kolkata said that this was the second group of Chinese nationals which was caught smuggling sandalwood on Thursday. Earlier on Wednesday, a group of six Chinese nationals were caught carrying 120 kilograms of red sandalwood while the second group of five Chinese nationals was caught carrying 150 kilograms of white sandalwood.
