Giridih, Feb 23 (ANI): Police busted a Maoist operation in red corridor of Giridih district in Jharkhand and recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition. The district police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched a special joint operation from February 18 to February 22 to look out for any Maoist activity in the nearby hills. The team raided a bunker of the Maoists located over the area’s highest hill, forcing the latter to flee from the spot. Police seized 200 detonators, rifles, material used to make bombs, four belts, six uniforms, axes to cut through iron, tear gas grenades, Chinese grenades and a drill machine. Feb 23, 2014

Dhikura/ Kathmandu, Feb 18 (ANI): All 18 people aboard a small plane that crashed in bad weather in Nepal were killed, an army spokesman said, after searchers battled heavy rain and harsh winds to reach the rugged site one day after the event. The crash highlights the poor safety record of Nepal, where more than a dozen airlines fly to nearly 50 airports, many in remote hills and mountains shrouded in cloud and cut off from roads. All passengers, and a crew of three were killed in the crash on Sunday at Masine hill in the village of Dhikura, 200 km (125 miles) west of the capital Kathmandu, officials said. Feb 18, 2014

Adventurists camp in Mao infested Purulia

Purulia, Feb 15 (ANI): Enthusiastic adventurists participated in the first Orienteering camp held in the Mao infested Ayodhya hill area of Matha Forest Range in Purulia of West Bengal. The camp has been organized by West Bengal Mountaineering & Adventure Sports Foundation, under the Youth Services Department of West Bengal government and the participants use their navigation skills with the help of a map and a compass to race on foot. Former Joint Director of National Atlas and Thematic Mapping Organisation (NATMO) and Coordinator of the orienteering camp, Tridib Basu, shared the experience of organizing the camp. Basu also said that since this camp was the first of its kind, the instructors and participants were trained well in advance. Feb 15, 2014
