Maharashtra doctors end strike after six days on CM's intervention

Mumbai, July 07 (ANI): Maharashtra Association of Gazetted Medical Officers (MAGMO) members, who were on a strike since July 1, called it off on Monday after the intervention of Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan. Chavan stated that most of the demands of MAGMO had been accepted earlier and the government is positive on some of the issues raised by them. MAGMO president Rajesh Gaikwad said that the organization is withdrawing the agitation on the assurance of the Chief Minister. The strike had paralyzed the healthcare situation in the state. Doctors went on the agitation for 11 of their demands that are pending. Jul 7, 2014

Maharashtra doctors refuse to end hunger strike even after govt's warning

Mumbai, July 06 (ANI): Medical services in Maharashtra continued to suffer as over 12,000 doctors from Members of the Maharashtra State Association of Gazetted Medical Officers (MAGMO) refused to take back their strike on Sunday. Doctors are on hunger strike from past six days, leading to suspension of health care situation in the state. Reportedly, the government dismissed more than 200 doctors on Saturday and has warned that strict action would be taken if they failed to return to work by Sunday. President of MAGMO Doctor Rajesh Gaikwad said that till the time government does not approve their demands, they will continue with the strike. Jul 6, 2014

Delhi Metro shut down 4 stations as IAS aspirants hold protests

New Delhi, June 27 (ANI): Four metro stations in the national capital have been closed 'indefinitely', as hundreds of students said that they will protest in front of the Prime Minister's residence on Race Course Road. The stations that have been shut down are Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat, Race Course Road and Udyog Bhawan. More than 3,000 students were holding a demonstration at Civil Lines who later marched to Rajghat, against the change in pattern of the Civil Services exams -which makes CSAT compulsory for those who want to become IAS officers. UPSC aspirants had staged a protest last week outside the residence of Home Minister Rajnath Singh demanding a four-year age relaxation for appearing in the examinations of these services. Border Guard Bangladesh top official denies any militant camp inside country

Siliguri, June 26 (ANI): The Additional Director General, Region Commander, Rangpur, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) north- western zone Mohammed Latiful Haider has firmly said that not a single militant camp is based inside the country. He added that, Bangladesh does not allow any camps in their territory, because they understand these kind of things are harmful for cordial relations between India and Bangladesh. Haider said this during a meeting with Border Security Force (BSF) officers at Kadamtala BSF Frontier head-quarter near Siliguri under Darjeeling district of West Bengal. Meanwhile, Inspector General (IG), South Bengal Frontier Head-Quarter, India's Paramilitary, Border Security Force (BSF) Rajni Kant Mishra, said that both the forces agree to maintain the sanctity of International border and with mutual cooperation including infiltration.
