VHP protest outside Pakistan embassy over hardships faced by Hindus in Pak

New Delhi, Aug 14 (ANI): Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Thursday staged a protest outside Pakistan embassy in New Delhi against the hardships faced by the Hindu community in the neighbouring country. Leaders of VHP claimed that Hindu community living in Pakistan was being treated inhumanly and demanded protection of human rights violations. Protesters shouted anti-Pakistan slogans and demanded justice for the Hindus living there. Protesters were accompanied by the Hindus who have fled from Pakistan after facing the torture from the natives there. VHP Joint General Secretary Swami Vigyanand said August 14 was being marked worldwide as a day to protest against the human rights violations on Pakistani Hindus. Aug 14, 2014

Muzaffarnagar organizes marathon to spread communal harmony

Muzaffarnagar, Aug 13 (ANI): In a bid to unite people from all faiths in riot-hit Muzaffarnagar city of Uttar Pradesh, a marathon was organised on Tuesday to spread the message of peace and communal harmony. Muzaffarnagar is a flashpoint in Uttar Pradesh in which some 60 people were killed in Hindu-Muslim riots last year. The marathon saw participation of around 4,000 children, along with journalists, police officials, and members of various women and civil society organisations. The event concluded with a cultural function featuring Independence Day-themed programmes. The five-kilometre marathon is an annual event and was organised for the third time in a row. Artisans almost complete tallest Ganesha idol ahead of Ganesha Chaturthi

Hyderabad, Aug 11 (ANI): Artisans in Telangana state got together to build one of the tallest idols of Hindu god Ganesha, the deity of prosperity, ahead of popular religious festival ‘Ganesha Chaturthi’, which marks re-birth of the god. Idols of Ganesha are being made few months ahead of the 10-day festival where they are taken through the streets in a dancing and singing procession, to be immersed in a river or the sea symbolising a ritual see-off of his journey towards his abode in "Kailash", while taking away with him the misfortunes of all mankind. Members of the Khairatabad Ganesh Utsav Committee said they were building a 60 feet idol of Lord Ganesha in Khairatabad district, claiming it to be the tallest in the world.
