Palamu, Sept 27 (ANI): Villagers were upbeat with the government’s decision to open a block (district-subdivision) office in the Maoist-infested Palamu district of Jharkhand. People of Palamu district were thrilled because the development funds of the government would come directly to their village and their administrative works could be addressed easily. The government sees development as a central plank of its efforts to wean people away from the Maoists who have operated in a vacuum of official neglect that has fuelled distrust of the authorities. The money earned by the auction went to the NGO SOFOSH (Society of Friends of the Sassoon Hospitals) which runs an orphanage. Speaking at the event, Tendulkar said, everyone is gifted with a talent, which must be recognized and put in the right direction. The orphan children had made an audio-book on Sachin Tendulkar and it was presented to him. Moved by the gesture of the children, Tendulkar said the grit and determination of the kids to present him with an audio book was an unforgettable moment for him.
