Bangalore, Jan 03 (ANI): Former chief minister of Karnataka BS Yeddyurappa rejoined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and would merge his regional Karnataka Janata Paksha (KJP) ahead of 2014 general elections. This came a year after Yeddyurappa walked out of the party alleging betrayal. Yeddyurappa, a strongman from the majority Lingayat community, said formalities would be completed within three to four days. India hopes for early resolution of legal tussle of GMR group with Maldivian government

New Delhi, Jan 1 (ANI): The Ministry of External Affairs has hoped for a resolution of issues between infrastructure firm, GMR and Maldivian government, with both at loggerheads over the Male airport issue. The new President of Maldives Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom would visit India from January 01 to 04. President Gayoom would be accompanied by a high level delegation. GMR, a subsidiary of Bangalore-based GMR Infrastructure limited has been given seven days to leave the Indian Ocean island chain. In 2012, Maldives cancelled its biggest foreign investment project, a $511 million deal with Indian firm GMR Group to develop its international airport, raising questions over the future of foreign investment in the islands renowned for luxury resorts. MEA spokesperson, Syed Akbaruddin said that it was important for both GMR and the government of Maldives to resolve their issues.
