New Delhi, Sept 25 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday opposed an ordinance that reverses a Supreme Court order disqualifying MPs and MLAs if convicted in a criminal case. The Government opted for the ordinance route on Tuesday, after a bill for the same could not be passed in the monsoon session of parliament. Govt's priority to save criminals till end: RSS on Ordinance to protect convicted leaders

New Delhi, Sep 25 (ANI): After the Union Cabinet on Tuesday, negating a Supreme Court ruling, cleared an ordinance that will protect convicted MPs and MLAs from immediate disqualification, RSS spokesman Ram Madhav said all political parties want criminal out of politics but Governments priority is to save criminals till the end. The union cabinet approved the ordinance which will negate an order of the Supreme Court that disqualified convicted MPs and MLAs immediately even if their appeal is pending in a higher court. Dhaka, Sep 21 (ANI): Bangladesh's Ganajagaran Mancha has hailed the verdict of the Supreme Court sentencing a Jamaat leader Abdul Quader Mollah to death for war crimes, overturning a life sentence imposed by a tribunal. Bangladesh Journalist, Shahriar Kabir, said that the verdict was the victory of the victims of the war. The war crimes tribunal back in February found Mollah, assistant secretary general of the outlawed Jamaat-e-Islami party, guilty of murder, rape and torture during the 1971 war of independence from Pakistan. The life sentence imposed at the time triggered protests by people hoping he would get the death penalty.
