Mushroom cultivation gains popularity as an alternative farming option in the Northeast

Tripura, Nov 09 (ANI): Climatic conditions in India, especially the Northeastern region, are favourable for natural occurance of mushrooms. And, realizing the potential of this non-traditional cash-crop, many people in the region are shifting their attention towards mushroom cultivation. The Ministry of Rural Development runs a special scheme on mushroom farming, which motivates many farmers to adopt this alternative form of farming. Meet Nilotpal Sinha, a teacher turned entrepreneur who runs "Vivekananda Mushroom centre" at South Hurua in North Tripura. Started mushroom farming in 2003 in a small area, today his centre produces 6 kg of crop everyday. Sinha earns Rs. 25,000 to 30,000 in a month by producing milky and oyster mushrooms. Mushroom consumption in India is comparatively low, but 55 per cent of the households consume mushrooms in their daily diet. Nov 9, 2014

Theatre festival concludes with fanfare in Bhubaneshwar

Bhubaneswar, Nov 7 (ANI): Theatre artists from across the country converged in Odisha to take part in a five-day national theatre festival. The festival, Purva Ranga, or 'Colours of the East', which is concluding today, attracted many spectators to Bhubaneswar city. President of Odisha Natya Sangh, Dhira Mallik, said that they had organised this festival with an aim to portray artists on national level. The festival was organised by Odisha Sangeet Natak Academy under the aegis of state tourism and culture department in collaboration with Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre, Kolkata. A director of Amateur Theatre Group, Mushtaq Kak, said that youth taking up theatre should come with a clean mindset as they are only keen to join silver screen actors rather than being natural artists. Andhra Pradesh CM confident of setting up petrochemical corridor in state

New Delhi, Nov 07 (ANI): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu exuding confidence vowed to make his state the most favourable destination for investment by setting up a petrochemical corridor, electronic hardware manufacturing and automobile hub. Naidu said he would build his state from the scratch and create opportunities for all. Meanwhile, Petroleum & Natural gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said the discussion with Naidu was fruitful as they touched various issues that would boost economy. Naidu also attended the World Economic Summit in New Delhi and met the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley. Naidu said his government was confident of building the state's industrial fortunes again and added that not just IT, but also electronic hardware manufacturing, automobile, agro-processing, and pharma will be set soon. Kaziranga National Park reopens for visitors

Jorhat, Nov 02 (ANI): Kaziranga National Park in Assam, which is home to the largest number of one-horned rhinos has been reopened for the visitors. Forest minister of Assam Rockybul Hussain inaugurated the re-opening by cutting the ribbon amid prayers and rituals. Hussain also flagged off the first batch of elephant safari of 13 elephants for a group of tourists from countries like Australia, United States and United Kingdom. Hussain also urged the people to be more committed for the conservation and protection of the rich bio-diversity of the park and help in maintaining its natural beauty. The Kaziranga National Park is a World Heritage Site, the park hosts two-thirds of the world's great one horned rhinoceroses. Nov 3, 2014
