India grants financial aid to Bangladesh for implementation of development projects

Dhaka, June 27 (ANI): India announced grant of nearly $10 million to Bangladesh for implementation of various small development projects and also assured it to address trade imbalance issue. The grant was announced by Foreign Minster Sushma Swaraj, who is on a visit to Bangladesh to bolster bilateral ties and also discuss important matters like Teesta water sharing and Land Boundary Agreement and the issue of illegal immigration. Swaraj also held talks with her Bangladesh counterpart Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in Dhaka, to bolster strategic partnership. Swaraj said India valued Dhaka's friendship, adding that the country was committed to move beyond quota-free and duty-free regime to strengthen trade ties. Jun 27, 2014

Sushma Swaraj meets Bangladesh PM, holds talks with counterpart in Dhaka

Dhaka, June 26 (ANI): Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj held talks with Bangladesh counterpart Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in Dhaka, to bolster strategic partnership. Swaraj met Hasina to discuss key bilateral issues, after meeting Ali. The two foreign ministers discussed the Teesta water sharing and Land Boundary Agreement, and Swaraj also raised the issue of illegal immigration. The two leaders also discussed economic ties and cooperation. However, no major pacts or agreements are a part of the 'goodwill' visit, which is aimed at further enhancing relations between the South Asian neighbours. Congress supporters stage sit-in over Vyapam scam in Bhopal

Bhopal, June 26 (ANI): Congress supporters staged a sit-in protest accusing leaders of the ruling BJP being involved in the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board or Vyapam scam. Congress workers demanded a probe to be conducted by the CBI on the scam. Meanwhile, student body, National Student's Union of India also protested against the scam. Congress leader Satyadev Katare also accused Madhya Pradesh Chief Shivraj Singh Chouhan of being involved in the employment scam. He showed documents of the Public Service Commission Examinations to prove that Chouhan's niece was appointed as Deputy Collector by illegal means and also said that the former had changed rules to destroy evidence of irregularities. BMC cuts water, gas and power connections from Campa Cola Compound

Mumbai, June 23 (ANI): Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) officials cut water, gas and power connections of the Campa Cola compound on Monday. Camp Cola Society residents had agreed to let the BMC cut power, water and gas supplies in the Supreme Court-declared illegal apartments after meeting Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithiraj Chavan. Political leaders from the BJP and the MNS have extended their sympathies to the residents' demand.
