Madhyamgram rape victim's death triggers outburst against WB govt

Kolkata/ New Delhi, Jan 2 (ANI): The death of the rape victim in West Bengal's Madhyamgram region took a new turn as it has been reported on Thursday that the girl was killed by the accused after being gang raped twice. The girl confirmed it in her dying statement. Slamming the West Bengal government, CPI (M) blamed the state government and its machinery including the police and health department for their negligence that led to the death of the girl. New Delhi, Jan 2 (ANI): NCW chairperson, Mamta Sharma on Thursday said that the West Bengal government and chief minister Mamata Banerjee must take serious action against police negligence in the Madyamgram gangrape case. Sharma said that the victim should have been given protection after she was raped first. A murder case has also been filed now by the police against the two main accused, on the basis of the final statement of the girl in which she had said that she was set on fire by her rapists. Speaking on the same, NCW Chairperson, Mamta Sharma on Wednesday said that the role of police in this case is not right as according to reports earlier Kolkata Police had refused to hand over the body of the victim to her father for cremation.
