Set to be shown on Tencent Video streaming service, Mad Sheila was filmed in inner Mongolia and funded by Tencent Video and Beijing Xinheyi, a television and film company. Forbes and film magazine ScreenDaily said Oscar-winning Mad Max: Fury Road was submitted to the China’s State Administration of Press, Publications, Radio, Film and Television, but was rejected.
