Queen Elizabeth II declares 2014 Commonwealth Games open in Glasgow

Glasgow, July 24 (ANI): The colourful event of Commonwealth Games 2014 kicked off in Glasgow after some enthralling dance and singing performances at the Celtic Park and a minute's silence for the victims of the Malaysian Airlines crash. Queen Elizabeth II travelled by train to Glasgow and declared the games open at the end of the evening's ceremony. Around 6,000 athletes gathered for the opening of the Commonwealth Games. The Games, open to athletes from the 53 Commonwealth of Nations, feature 22 sports. With nations including Jamaica, Kenya, Australia, England, Canada and South Africa participating, there are a significant numbers of Olympic medalists taking part. Jul 24, 2014
