Panaji, Jan 13 (ANI): After Goa's Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Ramesh Tawadkar created a furor by saying that the LGBT community needs cure, state Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar did a damage control saying sexual orientation is a natural thing. Meanwhile, the Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community is hoping that Tawadkar apologizes for his controversial statement. Tawadkar on Monday sparked a row by saying that government is contemplating setting up centres to make LGBT youth 'normal'. Tawadkar said that the LGBT youth will be trained and administered medicine in order to make them 'normal'. Indian Coast guard rescues injured Filipino off Goa coast

Goa, Jan 08 (ANI): Indian Coast Guard rescued an injured Philippines national on board a vessel in the Arabian Sea, ten miles off western coast of Goa. The coast guard jumped to action when its Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) in business hub Mumbai received a message from an LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) vessel Mubaraz, which was on her way to UAE from Japan, saying that they had a patient, Alberto Sariano, in critical condition on board. The MRCC then directed the headquarters in Goa to carry out the rescue operation. The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Indian Coast Guard, Goa region, Manoj Badkar said the coast guard sent out a helicopter to rescue Sariano after the vessel was made to alter its course towards Goa. Sariano was then brought to Vasco da Gama city where he was immediately admitted in a private hospital and given medical treatment. His condition is stable, said Badkar. Jan 8, 2015

Congress and BJP react as Delhi Police says Sunanda Pushkar was murdered

New Delhi, Jan 06 (ANI): Congress and BJP on Tuesday react as Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi confirmed that Sunanda Pushkar was murdered. A case of murder under Section 302 of IPC has been registered against unknown people. Bassi said that it is not a case of natural death and that medical report states that she was poisoned. Congress leader Rashid Alvi said that the police should carry on a fair investigation in the case and also questioned on such a delay in filing the FIR in the case. BJP leader GVL Narasimha Rao said that there is nothing to politicize the issue and said that Delhi police will see that the accused are brought to book. BJP leader Subramanian Swamy also welcomed the finding and said that Congress leader and Pushkar's husband Shashi Tharoor will be brought to book even as he alleged that Tharoor was involved in the murder.
