Newly elected MPs of BJP to meet today to formally elect Modi as its leader

New Delhi, May 20 (ANI): The BJP Parliamentary Party is holding a meet in New Delhi today to formally elect BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi as its leader. Parliament House is all decked up to welcome the new MPs, especially Narendra Modi. Modi will be elected by BJP's 282 MPs as the Parliamentary Party leader at a meeting in the central hall of Parliament. Party patriarch LK Advani will propose his name as the new leader of the Parliamentary Party. Later, the NDA MPs will also elect him as the leader of NDA parliamentary coalition. EC submits list of newly elected MPs to President

New Delhi, May 18 (ANI): The Election Commission on Sunday submitted the list of newly elected members of the 16th Lok Sabha to President Pranab Mukherjee. A three-member EC team headed by Chief Election Commissioner VS Sampath handed over the list containing the names of all 543 Members of Parliament to the President. Talking to the mediapersons, Sampath said that President congratulated the poll panel and voters of the country who made the democratic exercise meaningful and said that it was one of the best democratic exercise taken place in the whole world. TRS chief stakes claim to form government in Telangana

Hyderabad, May 18 (ANI): Telangana Rashtra Samithi chief K Chandrashekar Rao, on Sunday staked claim to form his government in Telangana, which would come into existence on June 01, after winning the general election. Present southern state of Andhra Pradesh will be split into Telangana and Seemandhra on June 01, as per the parliament law. Rao met Andhra Pradesh Governor Ekkadu S. L. Narasimhan and formally informed about his election as the legislature party leader and introduced the newly elected legislators in Hyderabad. TRS won 62 seats in 117-member Telangana assembly.
