Modi asks MPs not to touch his feet, politicos react

New Delhi, June 07 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked the Members of Parliament to stop touching his or other senior party leaders' feet while greeting them at the party's parliamentary meet. He also said that the MPs must be well prepared before speaking in the house and must have the right perspective on issues so that they do not strike a discordant note with the party's views, according to media reports. Reacting over this Congress leader Rashid Alvi said that it would not be right for him to comment on the instructions Modi gave to his leaders but it the tradition in India to touch feet of elders. Prakash Javadekar files nomination for Rajya Sabha from Bhopal

Bhopal, June 07 (ANI): Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar on Saturday filed his nomination for Rajya Sabha from Bhopal. Sumitra Mahajan elected new Lok Sabha speaker

New Delhi, June 6 (ANI): Sumitra Mahajan, an eight-time BJP Member of Parliament from Indore, has been unanimously elected the Speaker of the 16th Lok Sabha. Mahajan’s name was proposed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and seconded by senior BJP leader LK Advani and Home Minister Rajnath Singh. Opposition leaders, including the Leader of Congress in Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, M Thambidurai (AIADMK), Sudip Bandopadhyay (Trinamool Congress), Mulayam Singh Yadav (SP), Supriya Sule (NCP) and Mohammed Salip (CPI-M) are among the 19-proposers for Mahajan's name.
