Kashmir to witness gloomy Eid-al-Adha this year due to floods

Srinagar, Oct 05 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir is witnessing subdued preparations for Eid this time due to the floods that devastated the state last month, leaving hundreds dead and thousands homeless. There is no rush in the markets or festivity to be seen. The animal traders in Srinagar city say this year they have less to offer for animal sacrifices as most of their livestock perished in the floods. The blockage of transport system due to damage to infrastructure has also marred their business. India would be observing Eid-al-Adha, one of the two most important festivals in the Islamic calendar, on Monday. It marks the end of an annual Haj or pilgrimage to Mecca. A goat-seller, Mohammad Yousuf said that he is unsure about his business as the valley has still not recovered from the floods. Oct 5, 2014
