New Delhi, June 11 (ANI): Congress leader Capt Amarinder Singh on Wednesday slammed Former Army Chief and Cabinet Minister Gen (Retd) VK Singh for his comment on Army Chief designate Lt Gen Dalbir Singh Suhag calling him a criminal. Delhi court convicts 18 policemen in fake encounter case in Uttarakhand

New Delhi/ Dehradun, June 06 (ANI): A Delhi court convicted 18 policemen on Friday for killing a young student in Uttarakhand in a fake encounter. The policemen had shot dead 22-year-old Ranbir in Dehradun in 2009, alleging that he was involved in an extortion racket. The 17 accused were found guilty of murder, destruction of evidence and criminal conspiracy while one policeman has been found guilty of destruction of evidence. Victim Ranbir's father, Ravinder Pal, sought capital punishment for some of the convicts. However, Director General of Uttarakhand Police (DGP), BS Sidhu, hinted that his department might move the higher court against the verdict. The trial of the case was transferred from Dehradun to Delhi after Ranbir's family's petition. Jun 6, 2014

CBI files 46 FIRs in Saradha Scam, 43 in Odisha and 3 in West Bengal

New Delhi, June 04 (ANI): The CBI on Wednesday filed 46 FIRs in Saradha chit fund scam out of which 43 are in Odisha and 3 in West Bengal. The CBI spokesperson Kanchan Prasad said that all the FIRs have been filed under allegations of conspiracy and criminal breach of trust.
