PM Modi chairs meeting to review connectivity-related infrastructure sectors

New Delhi, Nov 5 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday chaired a high-level meeting to review the progress of work towards achievement of targets in the connectivity-related infrastructure sectors of roads, railways, shipping and civil aviation. Talking about the Sagarmala project PM Modi said that the project must lay stress on 'port-led development'. PM during the meeting emphasized on the need for faster inter-ministerial coordination and resolution of issues. He even urged the top officials to undertake cyber-visits of all major project locations once a month in order to keep a track of the progress of work on a real-time basis. Nov 5, 2014

Bus Accident kills at least 14 in Himachal Pradesh

Chamba, Nov 02 (ANI): At least 14 people were killed and 11 others injured after a bus fell into a gorge in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh. The private bus carrying 25 people was on its way to Himri in Saluni region when the driver lost control over the wheel and it fell into 100 feet deep gorge. While 12 people died on the spot, two others succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Road and rail accidents are common in India, where rickety infrastructure and weak law enforcement struggle to cope with a surge in traffic and floods of unlicensed drivers. Nov 3, 2014

Need to bring FDI in road infrastructure, says Nitin Gadkari

New Delhi, Oct 28 (ANI): Transport minister Nitin Gadkari said on Tuesday that there is a need to bring Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in road infrastructure to meet international standards. Property and infrastructure has been destroyed and hundreds of civilians were killed and many have become homeless. Militant leaders based in Pakistan, including Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) chief Hafiz Saeed reached the affected areas to take advantage of the flood situation to lure youths rendered shelter less by the recent floods. They instigate them to join militancy and wage a `jihad’. Vietnam's Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung arrives in India for two-day visit

Gaya, Oct 27 (ANI): Vietnam's Prime Minister, Nguyen Tan Dung, arrived in India on Monday to enhance ties and regional cooperation and began his two-day visit by landing in Bihar. Dung, who was accompanied by a 50-member delegation, was received by Bihar Chief Minister, Jitan Ram Manjhi, in Gaya city. During his visit in the state, Dung will pay homage at Mahabodhi temple in holy town of Bodh Gaya, where Lord Buddha is believed to have attained enlightenment. He would also visit the Vietnam Buddhism Pagoda in the town. Both the countries could sign at least a dozen pacts to boost cooperation in sectors like energy, infrastructure, trade and tourism. Dung will hold talks with his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi, President Pranab Mukherjee, Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj and other leaders.
