Farmers hopeful for more funds, adequate security to crops in Budget 2015-2016

Rajouri, Feb 25 (ANI): Indian farmers are pinning hopes on Finance Minister Arun Jaitley when he presents the central budget for 2015-2016. They want more allocation of funds, adequate insurance to their crops, mainly dependent on the vagaries of unpredictable climate. India is primarily an agrarian economy with about 70 percent of the population working in fields. Farmers in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir say the successive governments have taken some policy decisions to improve the farm output, but the benefits have failed to trickle down at the lower level. New Delhi, Feb 22 (ANI): The Government on Sunday reached out to the Opposition, calling for "a spirit of mutual cooperation" ahead of the Budget session of Parliament on Monday that is expected to be a stormy affair. After the all party meeting in New Delhi, senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said that the government should not expect support on any anti-people bills and ordinances from the Congress party.
