Maulana Kalbe Jawwad slams Modi government after being detained at Delhi airport

New Delhi, Nov 25 (ANI): Noted Indian Shi'ite cleric, Maulana Kalbe Jawwad slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi government for stopping a six-member humanitarian delegation, which was headed to war-torn Iraq ravaged by the Islamic state (IS) militants, for rehabilitation and relief work. Jawwad, who was heading the delegation, is the general secretary of one India's leading Islamic Organisation, Jamiat-Ulema-I-Hind. He and the preparatory delegation were detained at international airport in New Delhi on Sunday after a Look out circular (LOC) letter by Intelligence Bureau officials was shown to them. Hitting at the BJP government, he said LOC is shown to the untraceable criminals, not to those with no criminal backgrounds, heading for a noble cause. Department of epidemics in Coimbatore organises awareness meet on Ebola

Coimbatore, Nov 23 (ANI): The Department of Epidemics in Coimbatore city on Sunday organised an awareness meet to make medical and paramedical staff more sensitive about treating patients diagnosed with the dreaded Ebola. India quarantined a man who was cured of Ebola in Liberia but continued to show traces of the virus in samples of his semen after arriving in the country, Health Minister said. The ministry said that the Indian national tested negative for Ebola in tests conforming to World Health Organisation (WHO) guidelines, but had been quarantined as a precautionary measure when he arrived at New Delhi airport on November 10. Around 400 doctors and physicians from the city took part in the meet. Speaking to a mediaperson, chief of medical unit and professor of medicine at Coimbatore Medical College (CMC), Doctor Usha said that measures have already been taken to detect Ebola patients at airports. Indian fishermen released from Sri Lanka return home, thank PM Modi

New Delhi/ Chennai, Nov 21 (ANI): The five Indian fishermen, who were on death row for charges of alleged drug trafficking, thanked the Modi government as they reached Chennai airport after Sri Lankan government freed them. The fishermen returned to Delhi airport on Thursday and thereafter left for Tamil Nadu. Sri Lanka on Wednesday had released the fishermen who were arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy in 2011 on charges of smuggling drugs and on October 30, the Colombo High Court held them guilty of drug trafficking. The released fishermen - P Emerson, P Augustus, R Wilson, K Prasad and J Langlet - hail from Rameswaram coast of Tamil Nadu. Indore/New Delhi, Nov 19 (ANI): A training aircraft of Madhya Pradesh Flying Club crashed at Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport in Indore on Wednesday, seriously injuring two instructor pilots. The two instructors have reportedly suffered severe injuries and have been rushed to hospital for treatment. India quarantines man recovering from Ebola

New Delhi, Nov 19 (ANI): India has quarantined a man who was cured of Ebola in Liberia but continued to show traces of the virus in samples of his semen after arriving in the country, Health Minister said. The ministry said in a statement that the Indian national had been shown to be negative for Ebola in tests conforming to World Health Organisation (WHO) guidelines, but had been quarantined as a precautionary measure when he arrived at New Delhi airport on November 10. Later, tests of his semen detected traces of the virus. Union Health Minister, JP Nadda, said that body fluids were tested in National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and Institute of Virology (NIV) where both have tested positive. The Indian man carried with him documents from Liberia that stated he had been cured. He will be kept in quarantine until the virus is no longer present in his body, and will undergo tests over the next 10 days or so, a senior Health Ministry official said.
