UP govt suspends Noida Authority's Yadav Singh for amassing illegal properties worth crores

Lucknow, Dec 08 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh government has suspended Noida Authority Chief engineer Yadav Singh who was accused of amassing illegal properties worth crores. Few days back, the I-T department had recovered diamonds worth Rs 100 crore, Rs 10 crore in cash and around 2 kgs of gold from Yadav's residence. All tenders issued by Yadav have also been cancelled. The Supreme Court had appointed a special investigation team in monitoring investigations against Yadav. Reacting on the same, BJP leader Vijay Bahadur Pathak said that proper investigation should be done of the companies. He also questioned on why the state government trusted person like Yadav Singh who was already under suspension. Pathak also alleged that the scam took place under the political leaders. Dec 8, 2014

Indian fishermen released by Pakistan return home

Rajkot, Dec 3 (ANI): 35 fishermen, who were released by Pakistan three days ago, expressed happiness after they returned home in India. The fishermen had been arrested for illegal fishing in Pakistani waters. One prisoner was arrested for illegally crossing the border. These fishermen were natives form Saurashtra region of Gujarat. One of the organisation working in Pakistan gave all 35 fishermen Pakistan currency worth 10000 rupees (161.600 USD) and a kit which includes a saree, shirt and other household items. Meanwhile, assistant director of fisheries, KP Tandon, said that all the fishermen were looked after well. Amritsar, Nov 30 (ANI): 40 prisoners released from Karachi jail in Pakistan returned to India. The prisoners including 35 fishermen and five civilians reached Punjab via Wagah Border. Pakistan had released the Indian prisoners on Friday as a "goodwill gesture". The prisoners said that they were happy and thanked the Indian government for securing their release. The fishermen had been arrested for illegal fishing in Pakistani waters. One prisoner was arrested for illegally crossing the border. Karachi, Nov 28 (ANI): Pakistan authorities on Friday released 36 Indian prisoners, 35 of them fishermen, as a "goodwill gesture". The Indian prisoners were freed from Malir jail in the port city of Karachi. All the released inmates were sent to Lahore by bus. They will be handed over to Indian authorities at the Wagah border on Saturday (November), officials said. The fishermen had been arrested for illegal fishing in Pakistani waters. One prisoner was arrested for illegally crossing the border. Pakistan's biggest "Edhi charity" distributed gifts and cash among prisoners.
