Bangalore /New Delhi, July 18 (ANI): Members of a student organisation and BJP on Friday protested against the rape of a six-year-old girl by two staff members in her school in Bangalore.The crime took place on July 02 in the school campus during class hours and the child is now receiving treatment in hospital. Members of student organisation Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) gathered outside the school and staged a protest, accusing the school authority of inaction. They said the government should step up their efforts and address the issue with utmost urgency. The girl was allegedly raped by a security guard and a gym teacher. Meanwhile, BJP leaders also protested outside the assembly against the ruling Congress government for its failure to take steps. Parents protest against assault of minor girl in school in Bangalore

Bangalore, July 17 (ANI): Agitated parents protested in Vibgyor High School in Bangalore as a 6 year old girl was sexually assaulted in the school. The parents said the school _tried to cover up the matter_ and did not inform them about the incident, which took place on July 2. The Chairman of the school, Rustom Kerawala, assured that safety measures will be improved in school to keep all the students safe. He added that the school authorities are co-operating in investigation and confirmed that the suspected accused have been taken in police custody. However, the parents said they are not satisfied by the statements the school is giving. Meanwhile, Bangalore DCP TD Pawar said that the matter was reported quite late but he assured that action will be taken against the culprits. Reportedly, the girl was taken to a hospital after she expressed discomfort at home, which was when it was revealed that she was raped. Kabul, July 17 (ANI): A fierce gunbattle continued between the Afghan security forces and militants who had climbed up a nearby building to shoot at the Kabul International Airport on Thursday. The attack on the airport, used by civilians and the military, comes at a time of great uncertainty for Afghanistan as votes from the second round of a disputed presidential election are to be recounted. The poll is meant to mark Afghanistan_s first democratic transfer of power. Officials said a number of militants had burst into a building just north of the airport but were quickly surrounded by Afghan forces. Kabul police said the airport was undamaged, and one police officer suffered minor injuries and it was unclear how many insurgents were involved. New Delhi, July 14 (ANI): Mixed reactions flow in as Minister for women and child development Maneka Gandhi said that minors accused of rape should be treated on par with adults. NCP leader Majid Memon and SP leader Naresh Agarwal said that juvenile act should not be scrapped just like that. While, BSP Chief Mayawati said that the matter has to be discussed before taking any decision on the same. Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut and DCW Chairperson Barkha Shukla applauded Gandhi and said that in Nirbhaya case too, the juvenile was the cruelest and so the change in the act would be a welcome step.
