Truckers union clash in Kashmir kills one, injures three

Kathua, Sept 17 (ANI): One person was killed and three others injured when members of truckers union resorted to firing following a clash between them in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir. Reportedly, the clash, between two groups of the union, took place during the election of the union president. The deceased has been identified as Kuldeep Kumar, a government employee working for excise and taxation department. He was killed after a bullet hit his head. The injured were referred to Jammu hospital. Following the incident, people, mostly belonging to another group of truckers union, thronged Jammu-Pathankot National Highway in Kathua and demonstrated. Kashmir sets up special relief camps for flood rescuees

Jammu, Sep 16 (ANI): Kashmir has set up a special relief camp in the winter capital of Jammu for rescuees from flood ravaged valley, besides providing them with food and medical facilities, even as arrangements are being made to send the tourists back to their respective hometowns. The victims were rescued and flown to Jammu from where free bus and train services are being provided to take them back to their respective states. Most of the labourers were without basic needs for nearly 10 days and after being stationed at the relief camp in Jammu city, they were provided with free food and medical checkups. Most of the flood survivors were daily wage workers from Bihar and Jharkhand. A Kashmir flood survivor, Ram, praised the government and the army for massive relief and rescue operations. Maoists call for strike in Jharkhand collapsing whole transportation system

Latehar, Sep 14 (ANI): Maoist organisation, People’s Liberation Front, called for a shutdown in red corridor of Jharkhand resulting in total collapse of the transportation system in Latehar district on Sunday. No public transport or heavy vehicle were seen plying on the National Highway (NH) 75 and NH 99 passing through the district. Even only a handful of light vehicles were seen on the roads. PLFI called the strike protesting the death of two labourers in the mining. Meanwhile, resident Bansi Singh said people are losing business due to this strike and they are scared of going out of their home and travel. Delhi to Taj Mahal in 90 minutes, high speed train cracks trial run

Agra/ New Delhi, Sep 11 (ANI): Rail travellers will be able to reach the famed Taj Mahal's Agra city from New Delhi in just 90 minutes once commercial operations of the high speed train, which has successfully completed its second and the final trial run, starts in November. Railways on Thursday successfully conducted a trial run of a passenger train at a speed of 160 km per hour between Delhi and Agra, making it the country's fastest train. Neeraj Sharma, Chief Public Relation Officer (CPRO), Northern Railways said that this trial run was not for testing the speed but for time-tabling. The railways had decided to conduct three trials for the semi-high speed train but the second trial scheduled on August 22 was cancelled due to unavailability of resources.
