Telecast of Doordarshan to become mandatory on private networks

Ahmedabad, July 14 (ANI): Indian government would make telecast of state-run channel Doordarshan mandatory on every direct to home and cable network, said Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar. Javadekar said his aim was to make Doordarshan and state-run All India Radio first choice of viewers. New Delhi, July 12 (ANI): The Right To Food Campaign (RTFC), expressed disappointment over maiden budget of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government, saying it failed to address the issue of Food Security Act and food subsidy. The RTFC, which is a network of individuals and organizations committed to realization of right to food in India, held a meeting in New Delhi and said Finance Minister Arun Jaitley did not speak about national food security law in the fiscal budget of 2014-2015, which was presented in the parliament on July 10. It said that BJP’s manifesto, which defined national security as universal food security, did not address it. Reactions come in as BJP issues whip to its MPs to support TRAI Bill in LS

New Delhi, July 11 (ANI): The TRAI Amendment Act to be presented in Lok Sabha has invited political reactions. After reports of Congress opposing the bill in Parliament, BJP had issued a whip to all its MPs to be present when the government will present the bill. Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that the bill is being presented on the basis of merit and hoped that it would be passed in both houses. BJP leader Rajiv Pratap Rudy said that it was an amendment which needed to be modified every six months and added that the government needed to change laws.
