Fourteen-year old teenager makes wind energy-based unique cooler

Jamshedpur, Feb 15 (ANI): A 14-year-old girl, Nishu, from Jharkhand built a unique wind-energy based local cooler. A student of Class X, Nishu has won several district and state level awards for her unique model. She said that the cooler is affordable at rupees 2500 and can be easily availed by poor, especially children, who have to bear the brunt of power outages. In May, she will also visit Japan to participate in Sakura Exchange Programme. Vice-President Hamid Ansari awarded Nishu for her unique contribution in the field of technology. Feb 15, 2015

Paramilitary force organises camp in Maoist-hit areas of Jharkhand

Latehar, Feb 15 (ANI): Paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) organised a health camp in Maoist-affected villages of Jharkhand. CRPF personnel, as a part of civic action programme, distributed free medicines and utensils to the poor in 200 Maoist-hit villages in Latehar district. According to villagers, they are constantly under Maoists attack threat but are relieved after a police station was built in Herhanj area. Meanwhile, CRPF doctor Anil Kumar Singh said that their work was to provide proper medical assistance to villagers. The rebels have operated for decades across a wide swath of central and eastern India, and grew in strength during recent times in areas where poor, tribal villagers came into conflict with mining companies seeking resources for industrialisation.
