Passengers relieved as train services resume in Kashmir

Baramulla/ Jammu, Sep 29 (ANI): Bringing much relief to the passengers, train services on the Baramulla-Banihal railway track resumed on Monday (September 29) after remaining closed for many days due to floods in Jammu and Kashmir. Train services were badly affected due to worst flooding in the valley. Besides claiming hundreds of lives and inundating thousands of homes, the flood destroyed military bases and hospitals in main city Srinagar after the Jhelum River overflowed its banks. Now with the train services resuming, passengers said it would also help boost their business, making it easier to commute. Meanwhile, the fourth bridge on the River Tawi was also reopened on Monday. After floods washed away the entire Jammu region, several bridges and connecting roads were closed. Focusing on tactical and technical skills in countering insurgency and militancy, Indian and U.S army officials started the joint exercise on Monday. Anti-nuclear activist demands ban on construction of new units at Kudankulam nuclear plant

Chennai, Sep 26 (ANI): Anti-nuclear activist Udayakumar demanded ban on construction of unit three and four at Kudankulam nuke power plant in Tamil Nadu. Spearheading the prolonged agitation against the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project (KNPP) in Tirunelveli district, Udayakumar while addressing mediapersons said that false cases fostered on 227 billion people should be withdrawn immediately. Earlier, the Madras High Court dismissed the petition, challenging the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board's clearance to the plant to load fuel. He also informed that activists will embark upon a train trip from Kanyakumari to Kashmir from November 07 to spread the anti-nuclear message across length and breadth of the country. Sep 26, 2014
