Hindu devotees throng temples to celebrate auspicious Monday during 'Sawan'

Ujjain/ Varanasi, June 28 (ANI): Thousands of devout Hindus thronged Lord Shiva temples across India to offer special prayers in celebration of the auspicious third Monday of the month- long 'Sawan '(Monsoon) festival. Devotees gathered in large numbers on Monday to offer milk, curd, honey and holy water to Lord Shiva in the wee hours of the morning. Long queues of people waiting with an assortment of religious offerings like joss sticks, red vermilion and flowers were seen outside the temples. A priest in the Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga temple of ancient Ujjain city in Madhya Pradesh, Anup Yadav, said that the third Monday of the month holds a special importance in the Hindu lunar calendar. Kanwarias (devotees of Lord Shiva) undertake a tedious foot journey to the Hindu pilgrim centres of Haridwar, Gaumukh and Gangotri in Uttarakhand to fetch the holy waters of river Ganges for their village temples. This Telugu flick has faced many problems after announcing its release date on 27th June. After the complaint issued by a business man, Guntur court has stopped the movie release till 10th of July. Kamal gets emotional while watching Manam

Akkineni family film Manam has got good response and is having a successful run at the box-office by crossing a $ 1 million mark in USA. Now, actor Kamal Haasan who has recently watched the movie has showered praises on Manam, remembering his bond with Late ANR. Kamal said, "I am a big fan of Akkineni Nageswara Rao and Manam has boosted my devotion to him further. It is such a beautiful and feel good film. While everyone was laughing, I became emotional remembering my bond with ANR." Produced by Annapurna Studios, Manam is a befitting send off and a tribute by his son Nagarjuna to him. Kamal Hassan added, "I am very happy that Akkineni family has made this film as a befitting farewell for the legendary actor. ANR lives on in Manam. As an ANR fan, I thank Akkineni family for making such a wonderful film." Vikram Kumar directed Manam also had Nagarjuna, Naga Chaitanya, Samantha, Shriya and ANR in lead roles.
