Forest officials rescue tiger caught in fence in Maharashtra

Chandrapur, Jan 08 (ANI): Forest officials in a village in Chandrapur district rescued a tiger that was stuck in a fence bordering a nearby jungle. The tiger which got stuck in the fence at night was growling as he attempted to escape. The spot was very close to the Borda village in the district. Forest officials managed to tranquilise the tiger after a grueling five hours. A forest official, Chand Hande, said they would set him free in the forest. Tigers have long been bordering extinction as they face the dangers of poaching, killings and habitat loss despite government conservation efforts. Jan 8, 2015

Tourists rejoice as Shimla gets fresh spell of snow

Shimla, Jan 03 (ANI): Kufri hill station in Himachal Pradesh turned into a picturesque landscape as it received fresh snowfall bringing much delight to tourists. The higher reaches, including Narkanda, Kharapathar, Sangla, Pangi, Rohthang, and Kelong, received about 15 centimeters of snowfall, while mid and lower hills witnessed widespread rains plummeting the temperatures. A large number of tourists were seen enjoying the weather. Some of them were excited to see the thick blanket of snow in surrounding areas for the first time. Met Director of Himachal Pradesh, Manmohan Singh, said maximum temperature dropped by four points to seven degrees Celsius across the state following fresh snowfall. The state capital Shimla received 9 mm of rain and 2 cm of snow while the lower areas of the state had widespread moderate rain. Jan 3, 2015
