Lawyers back Chief Justices remark over judges appointment bill

New Delhi, Aug 16 (ANI): The Indian lawyers have approved of the statement given by the Chief Justice over judges’ appointment bill which has been recently passed unanimously in both houses of the Parliament. Chief Justice of India, R.M Lodha, said he hoped that judiciary, executive and Parliament are allowed to work independently and without any interference. He was speaking at a function organized by the Supreme Court Bar Association. One of the lawyers, Kamini Jaiswal expressed her agreement over the remarks made by the Chief Justice adding, he has made a valid and just statement. First budget session of NDA govt satisfactory: Venkaiah Naidu

New Delhi, Aug 15 (ANI): Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu hails the first budget session 2014 of Modi-led NDA government, which concluded on Thursday, as satisfactory. The budget session 2014 ran over the span of 27 days with 167 working hours in lower house and 142 working hours in the upper house of the parliament. New Delhi, Aug 13 (ANI): President Pranab Mukherjee recently conferred the outstanding parliamentarian awards to three veteran leaders. Earlier, Prasad had told the parliament the government was keen to set up a committee to appoint judges in wake of allegations of judicial corruption by a former judge of the Supreme Court, Justice Markandey Katju.
