Coal scam: CBI names KM Birla, ex-Coal Secretary in fresh FIR

New Delhi, Oct 15 (ANI): In another high profile chargesheet in the coal scam, the CBI has registered a case against Chairman of the Aditya Birla Group, KM Birla. Aluminum maker Hindalco, which Mr Birla promotes, has also been named in the fresh FIR filed by the agency. According to reports, the FIR names Birla, Nalco, Hindalco and former coal secretary PC Parekh. The charges in the FIR reportedly pertain to alleged forgery and financial misrepresentation. The investigating agency is conducting raids at the Hyderabad, Mumbai and Kolkata offices of Hindalco. The CBI is under pressure from the Supreme Court to hasten its investigation into how and why coal fields were allocated to private players without a transparent bidding process. Oct 15, 2013

BSF helps children with cleft lip in Tripura

Tripura, Oct 11 (ANI): A two-day long medical camp for people with cleft lips was held at Salbagan in the west district of Tripura. At the camp, 14 people, including children and other persons with cleft lips and palates were operated upon by doctors. All patients were from poor families and the funds for organizing the surgical and medical camp were provided by Smile Train. Smile Train, founded in 2000, is an international charity that helps children with cleft lips. All parents were very happy that the BSF helped them in the treatment of their children. Chennai, Oct 06 (ANI): Twenty two drivers from around the world began their drive through seven Indian cities from Chennai to Goa in ten customized Tuk Tuk rickshaws to raise funds for impoverished children in India and Singapore. The aspiring adventurers who hailed from Ireland, UK, Italy, Australia and Singapore participated in the event to see India closely and contribute to the noble aim of raising financial aid for the poor children. The rally which was flagged from Chennai's MRC Nagar on Sunday witnessed tuk tuks clad in bright colours of orange and yellow taking to the streets of the city. This auto rickshaw journey is set to cover a stretch of 1087 kilometers as the drivers would travel to Goa, in six days.
