HC says dastarbandi has no legal sanction, rules out stay on anointment of Jama Masjid's Shahi Imam

New Delhi, Nov 21(ANI): Delhi High court on Friday said that dastarbandi has no legal sanction whatsoever and ruled out any stay on anointment of Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid. The court ruled that dastarbandi is a private function and as the family is living there since much time, they don't need to be removed now. However, the petitioner in the case said that there is nothing called hereditary in Islam for the position of imam and a person like him, who has criminal cases going on, should not be allowed to continue. The decision of the court is of interim nature and the High Court will keep the case under consideration. The court also questioned why the Waqf board has not taken any action on the issue. Police arrest murder accused Sant Rampal from his Satlok Ashram in Hisar

Hisar, Nov 20 (ANI): Police has arrested self-styled murder accused godman, Sant Rampal charged with criminal conspiracy and riot, from his Satlok Ashram in Hisar. Rampal will be produced before the Chandigarh court today. A top official of Haryana Government, Jawahar Yadav, who is officer on special duty (OSD) to chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar, said the government's priority was to protect the hostages at the Satlok Ashram. On Wednesday, police brought out 15,000 people, many held against their will, from the ashram. Nov 20, 2014
